This past week has been overwhelming for so many of us. Whether you’re feeling the weight of collective grief, personal struggles, winter doldrums, or just the sheer unpredictability of the world, I want you to know that it’s okay to feel it all.
If you are directly impacted by the fires in LA, please know my heart is with you. My heart is broken too. LA was my first home in California over 40 years ago and remains a hub of cherished memories, family, and community. Words fail to express the grief and shock of what has happened and continues to unfold.
I’ve posted some resources on my personal Instagram account for now and will share more soon. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need a friend or support in any way. ❤️🔥
As soulful entrepreneurs and business owners, we’re no strangers to navigating uncertainty.
Yet, showing up for our work—or even ourselves—can feel impossible when the world feels heavy.
So how do we stay grounded, focused, and inspired when the world is quite literally on fire?
✨ How do we keep going when everything feels uncertain? The answer isn’t in pushing harder, forcing ourselves to be “okay,” or trying to figure it all out at once. Instead, it’s about creating space to rest, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters.
✨ Why does our business exist, beyond making money? This is one of the most powerful questions we can ask ourselves. Reconnecting with our WHY anchors us in purpose and guides us through even the most challenging times.
✨ What do you need to feel grounded and safe right now? I believe entrepreneurship is a deeply creative and transformational act. Staying inspired is essential for continuous growth and innovation. Yet it is impossible to access creative and expansive states when our nervous systems are activated and disregulated.
A lot of times when we feel stuck or “uninspired”, it is simply that a part of us is in a fear / freeze state. In times of great collective transformation, the problems of the world can feel so big and all consuming that they paralyze us, and we lose connection to our inner source of inspiration and guidance.
To stay inspired when the world feels overwhelming, focus on self-care, find positive outlets, connect with supportive people, take action on smaller goals, and remind yourself of your personal values and the impact you can make, even amidst challenges.
Here are some Key Strategies for Feeling Connected & Inspired:
Prioritize self-care: Ensure you are getting enough sleep, eating healthy, exercising regularly, and practicing relaxation techniques to manage stress and maintain energy levels.
Move Your Body & BREATHE : this helps you move and clear energy, keeps your heart pumping, blood flowing, and hormones and mood stabilized. It really is so important always, but especially in times like these.
Seek positive inspiration: Surround yourself with uplifting stories, quotes, art, or people who inspire you.
Connect with supportive communities: Not only is it a good idea to connect with others during times of isolation (and please check on anyone vulnerable with a phone/video call), but if you’re stuck for inspiration, chances are someone else is too. Calling friends and loved ones is always good, but especially during times of heightened emotions. Spend time with people who share your values and can offer encouragement and a sense of belonging.
Remember Your Why & Your Values: Why did you start your business? Why is your work helpful and valuable to others? How can you serve this moment? Remind yourself of your why and focus on how you can be of service for those that need you, even and especially now. Remind yourself why your work matters and use that to motivate you to keep going.
Stay informed, but set boundaries: Keep yourself updated on current events, but avoid overwhelming yourself with constant negative news.
Practice gratitude: Take time to appreciate the positive, the light, and the aspects of your life, even during difficult times.
Seek professional help if needed: If you are struggling to cope with overwhelming emotions, consider talking to a therapist or counselor.
Clear the Decks: try to lighten your load by saying no to non-necessary commitments and events, make sure you have enough space throughout the day to just “be”, and to process any emotions or to do less on days where your tank might not feel as full.
Engage in meaningful activities: Find hobbies or volunteer work that align with your passions and allow you to contribute positively.
When I created the RENEWAL Winter Series , I was honoring my intuition. It told me to go slow, walk gently, and tend to my soul first—despite the discomfort of resisting the urge to “hit the ground running.” Over the past week, I’ve seen how essential this has been. The space I created for self-care, breath, movement, creativity, and community has been invaluable.
This is why I’ve decided to move our Creative Coworking session up to Thursday, January 23rd , so we can come together sooner. This space is for you if you’re feeling scattered, disconnected, or simply need a gentle nudge to refocus on your vision before launching into your annual planning and marketing.
Together, we’ll: 🌱 Create space for clarity and inspiration
🌱 Tend to our nervous system, body, heart, and spirit
🌱 Reconnect with our deeper purpose, inspiration, and intention for the year
🌱 Nourish ourselves in community and connection
